    Steve,

Thanks for the holiday gift! Really interesting stuff from Vinnie's clinic. He mentioned Don Ellis's "Bulgarian Bulge" in 33/16 arranged by Milcho Leviev. I played with Milcho on a gig once. I didn't know who he was when I arrived at a gig, but there he was doodling on Bulgarian Bulge. Very cool stuff.

I understand there's a video clip of Bulgarian Bulge at: http://www.trumpetstuff.com/images/Ellis/

It sounds like Vinnie had a slight speech impediment, that I'd not heard before in his speech. Does anyone know what was up with that? He didnt seem to have it in the MD 2000 interview.

I actually went back to Zappa's "Live at Saarbrucken" album, and listened to "Keep It Greasy", and the verse seemed to just be in 4/4, with Vinnie playing over the bar some, but it definitely wasnt in 19, or 21.
